Schemes Proposed by Government of India in 2024 Budget

Viksit Bharat 2047

It is the government's action plan to transform India into a developed country by 2047, exactly 100 years after its independence from British rule. The vision encompasses various aspects of development, including economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability, and good governance.

Pradhan Mantri Suryoday Yojana (Rooftop Solarisation Scheme)

The plan intends to give 300 free units of electricity each month to one crore homes. The goal of this initiative is to lower household electricity expenses by installing rooftop solar panels and utilizing solar energy. This initiative intends to reduce reliance on traditional energy sources by installing rooftop solar panels in homes and promoting sustainable energy practices. It promotes clean and sustainable energy.

Housing for Middle Class

The government will launch a scheme to help deserving sections of the middle class living in rented houses, slums, or chawls, and unauthorized colonies to buy or build their own houses.

Cervical Cancer Vaccination

The vaccination programme will target girls aged 9 to 14 to prevent cervical cancer. The government will promote this vaccination among eligible categories.

Atmanirbhar Oil Seeds Abhiyan

A strategy will be formulated to achieve ‘atmanirbharta’ for oil seeds such as mustard, groundnut, sesame, soybean, and sunflower. This will include research into high-yielding varieties, widespread adoption of modern farming techniques, market linkages, procurement, value addition, and crop insurance.

Dairy Development

The government will formulate a comprehensive scheme to assist dairy farmers. The programme will combat foot and mouth disease. It will be built on the success of existing programmes like the National Livestock Mission, Rashtriya Gokul Mission, and Infrastructure Development Funds for Dairy Processing and Animal Husbandry.

Corpus for Research and Innovation

The government will set up a Rs.1 lakh crore corpus with a 50-year interest-free loan. This corpus will provide long-term financing or refinancing with long tenors and nil or low-interest rates to enable the private sector to considerably increase innovation and research in new domains.

Scheme for Bio-Manufacturing and Bio-Foundry

The government will launch a new scheme of bio-manufacturing and bio-foundry to promote green growth. This scheme will offer environmentally beneficial alternatives such as bioplastics, biodegradable polymers, bio-agricultural inputs, and bio-pharmaceuticals. It will also aid in the transition from today's consumptive manufacturing paradigm to regenerative ones.

Blue Economy 2.0

The government will launch a scheme for restoration and adaptation measures, coastal aquaculture, and mariculture with an integrated and multi-sectorial approach.
